AIVD Biotech’s is a rapid test manufacturer. AIVD’s COVID-19 Antigen test is a lateral flow (latex bead-based) immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein (NP) antigen from SARS-CoV-2 in direct nasal swabs and salvia from individuals suspected of COVID-19.

How Antigen test Works?
COVID-19 Antigen rapid test contains latex bead conjugate pad and a membrane strip pre-coated with antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2 antigen on the test line. In case the sample contains the antigen, it will interact with the latex bead-labeled anti-SARS-COV-2 NP antibodies on the conjugate pad and a visible red band will appear on the test line (T). Also, when test line not appear, the result considered negative. Then the control line (C) is used for procedure control and should always appear when the test is performed correctly.
Basic protocol of COVID-19 ANTIGEN RAPID TEST
Step One
Dispense buffer into the extraction tube
Step Two
Take nasal swab and insert the swab into the extraction tube
Step Three
Place the test card on the table and dispense 2 drops of the buffer-specimen mixture into the sample well
Step Four
Read the test results in 15 – 20 minutes

There are two kinds of tests available for COVID-19: viral tests and antibody tests. RT-PCR test and antigen test are both viral test which detects the presence of SAR-CoV-2 from upper respiratory samples. The RT-PCR test targets the genomic information of the virus (RNA); , the COVID-19 antigen test kit detects the present SARS-CoV-2 virus in the sample. Antibody test shows the immune response to the COVID-19.
